This medium sterling silver quaich handmade by Hamilton & Inches is exclusive to the National Galleries of Scotland.

Using master silversmithing skills passed from one generation to the next for over 150 years, each unique quaich is hand crafted from a single piece of sheet silver and hand worked to achieve a highly polished finish. The handles of the National Galleries of Scotland quaich feature an intricate design inspired by an architectural detail from the Scottish National Gallery. The quaich is silversmithed in Edinburgh at the Hamilton & Inches workshop on George Street and in addition to the traditional silver hallmarks; each piece features the unique Hamilton & Inches maker’s mark.

A quaich is a special kind of shallow two-handled drinking cup or bowl in Scotland. It derives from the Scottish Gaelic cuach meaning a cup. A quaich was originally used to drink whisky but has since come to represent friendship and so makes the perfect meaningful gift.

Silversmiths by Royal Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen, Hamilton & Inches create a range of silverware in traditional and contemporary designs.

The quaich requires specific handling and packaging. Shipped by courier. You can alternatively arrange to collect from any of our shops by completing the special instructions as part of the checkout process.
