Barbara Greg

Barbara Greg was born in Styal, a village in Cheshire, England. At the age of 19 she enrolled at the Slade School of Art in London, following which she attended the Westminster School of Art and the Central School of Art. At Slade Greg met fellow student Norman Janes who she went on to marry. Her work focuses mostly on nature, and in 1949 she was commissioned by Scottish writer Ian Niall to create wood engravings to illustrate ‘The Poacher’s Handbook’. Following this Greg illustrated several books with natural history themes, while continuing to paint landscapes.
